Through the art and discipline of dance, the staff of Dancers by Design seeks to provide a challenging learning environment in which every young dancer has the opportunity to develop skills that foster self-confidence, personal growth, and achievement.
Dancers by Design is owned and operated by the Heider family. Executive directors, Rich and Kelly Heider, have extensive backgrounds in both business and education. Rich has been the owner and manager of Richard J. Heider Landscaping, a successful landscape design business, since 1986. His talent for design and attention to detail have kept his customers loyal for over 30 years. Rich’s wife, Kelly, started her career in 1994 as a public school teacher for the Burrell School District in Lower Burrell, PA. In 2006, she received her doctoral degree in education (with a supervisory certificate in curriculum and instruction) and is now a full professor at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Rich and Kelly’s daughter, Emma, is a high school senior and competitive dancer who enjoys assisting DBD’s instructors with technique and choreography classes.
The 3,975 square feet of space that houses Dancers by Design is newly-renovated and includes a reception area, lounge (with lockers, a flat-screen TV, and wireless internet access), dressing room, restrooms, instructor offices, and three dance studios. Two studios have marley floors with dense foam underlayment to protect dancers’ joints, and the third studio is hardwood for preschool, mini, and tap classes. Our facility is conveniently located in the Gabriel Brothers Plaza in Greensburg, PA at the intersection of North Greengate Road and Rte. 30.
